March 20, 2025 marked a historic day for Ontario's construction industry as EBS Global (Engineered Building Systems), a cutting-edge cold-formed steel prefabrication company, officially opened its state-of-the-art facility in Barrie, Ontario. The grand opening ceremony showcased the company's commitment to fast, durable, and eco-friendly construction solutions for Canada's housing and commercial building needs.

What Happened at the Grand Opening

The ribbon-cutting ceremony took place at EBS Global's 60,000 sq. ft. facility located at 220 John Street, Barrie. The event was attended by prominent figures including Ontario Cabinet Ministers Michael Tibollo and Andrea Khanjin, Barrie Mayor Alex Nuttall, Federal and Provincial MPs John Brassard, Doug Shipley, along with leading architects, contractors and industry professionals.

In his keynote speech, EBS Global President Fesih Zeki Mert emphasized the company's mission: "This facility will revolutionize construction in Canada by delivering sustainable, fast and cost-effective building solutions to tackle the housing crisis."

Innovations by EBS Global

EBS Global's prefabricated steel wall, floor and beam panel systems offer significant advantages over traditional construction:

Speed: A 2,000 sq. ft. home can be built in just 3 days, significantly faster than conventional methods.

Durability: Steel structures outperform wood in strength and weather resistance.

Sustainability: Reduced waste and energy-efficient production support green building initiatives.

Economic Impact: The facility is expected to create 500+ new jobs, boosting Barrie's economy.

A Solution to Canada's Housing Crisis

With Ontario's goal of building 1.2 million new homes by 2031, EBS Global's modular prefabrication technology could play a critical role. MP Andrea Khanjin (Barrie) stated: "This facility is a major step forward in addressing Canada's housing shortage."

EBS Global's Vision for the Future

Beyond residential projects, EBS Global aims to expand into hospitals and schools for faster construction of public infrastructure, industrial facilities with custom steel solutions for warehouses and factories, and disaster relief housing for rapid deployment of emergency shelters.

EBS Global's grand opening marks a new era in Canadian construction. By combining speed, sustainability and affordability, the company is set to transform how buildings are made, starting right here in Barrie, Ontario.
