EBS Global has confirmed its participation in the upcoming Nunavut Housing Summit, hosted by the Nunavut Housing Corporation (NHC), taking place from June 9 to 12, 2025. The summit will convene key public agencies, private sector leaders, housing organizations, and Inuit community representatives to address one of Canada’s most pressing housing challenges.

The summit’s theme, Igluliuqatigiingniq—which means “Building Houses Together” in Inuktitut—focuses on accelerating sustainable, culturally respectful, and community-driven housing solutions across the territory.

A Growing Housing Crisis in the North

Home to over 36,800 residents—85% of whom are Inuit—Nunavut continues to face significant housing challenges. Overcrowded homes, aging infrastructure, and a lack of diverse housing options are made worse by a rapidly growing population.

EBS Global is attending not just to present innovative construction solutions, but to listen, collaborate, and build long-term partnerships with communities and local housing organizations.

Nunavut 3000: A Shared Vision for the Future

At the heart of the summit is Nunavut 3000, one of the most ambitious housing initiatives in Canadian history. Launched in 2022, the program aims to deliver 3,000 new homes—across public, affordable, transitional, and market categories—by 2030.

To date, more than 855 homes have been completed or are under construction. This already exceeds 85% of the government’s Katujjiluta Mandate to deliver 1,000 homes by October 2025.

What makes Nunavut 3000 distinct is its approach:

  • Building with communities, not just for them

  • Driving systemic, long-term change instead of short-term projects

  • Fostering strong partnerships among Inuit organizations, governments, and the private sector

  • Grounding design and construction in Inuit societal values (Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit)

  • Supporting local training, youth engagement, and inclusive economic development

These values are deeply aligned with EBS Global’s operating model and mission.

EBS Global: Engineering Housing Solutions for Northern Conditions

EBS Global develops innovative construction systems based on offsite manufacturing, cold-formed steel framing, and modular building technologies. With a centralized production facility in Barrie, Ontario and mobile modular manufacturing platforms, the company delivers scalable, cost-effective housing solutions tailored for both urban centers and remote communities.

Core capabilities include:

  • Load-bearing and non-load-bearing steel wall panels

  • Cold-formed steel (CFS) roof systems, joists, and trusses

  • Full digital design integration, from CAD to component

  • Automated roll-forming from steel coil to coded part

  • Rapid on-site assembly reducing build time from weeks to days

This approach is ideally suited to remote and logistically complex regions, enabling faster, more efficient, and more sustainable housing delivery.

Supporting the Five Pillars of Nunavut 3000

EBS Global’s model directly supports the five strategic pillars of the Nunavut 3000 initiative:

  1. Scaling with EfficiencyHigh-volume production drives down unit costs while maintaining quality and reducing material waste.

  2. Standardized, Flexible DesignDigitally modeled components enable fast deployment and adaptation to local needs.

  3. Strong PartnershipsWith experience across Canadian municipalities and public agencies, EBS is ready to partner with Nunavut’s Local Housing Organizations and Inuit-led institutions.

  4. Faster, Weather-Resilient ConstructionOffsite manufacturing minimizes delays caused by on-site scheduling or harsh weather conditions.

  5. Innovative Procurement & DeliveryThrough early engagement, bulk material sourcing, and automation, EBS delivers cost savings and supply chain resilience in a volatile global market.

A Long-Term, Community-Based Partnership

As Nunavut 3000 moves from vision to implementation, EBS Global is ready to help scale this effort across all 25 communities in Nunavut. With on-demand mobile factories and culturally respectful construction strategies, EBS is prepared to respond quickly and effectively to the region’s unique needs.

“Building Houses Together” is not just a theme—it’s a promise. At EBS Global, that promise begins with listening, understanding, and building in true partnership.
