EBS Global at the Nunavut Housing Summit, June 9 to 12, 2025
EBS Global confirmed its participation in the Nunavut Housing Summit, hosted by the Nunavut Housing Corporation (NHC) from June 9 to 12, 2025. The summit brings together public agencies, private sector leaders, housing organizations and Inuit community representatives. Its theme is Igluliuqatigiingniq, which means "Building Houses Together" in Inuktitut, and its focus is housing that is sustainable, culturally respectful and led by communities across the territory.
Nunavut is home to over 36,800 residents, 85% of whom are Inuit. Homes are overcrowded, infrastructure is aging and there are few housing options, while the population grows quickly. EBS Global is attending to listen and to build long-term partnerships with communities and local housing organizations, as well as to present its construction systems.
The summit centres on Nunavut 3000, one of the most ambitious housing programs in Canadian history. Launched in 2022, it aims to deliver 3,000 new homes by 2030, across public, affordable, transitional and market categories. To date, more than 855 homes have been completed or are under construction, which already exceeds 85% of the government's Katujjiluta Mandate to deliver 1,000 homes by October 2025.
Nunavut 3000 builds with communities. It aims for long-term, systemic change, and it relies on partnerships among Inuit organizations, governments and the private sector. Design and construction are grounded in Inuit societal values (Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit), and the program supports local training, youth engagement and inclusive economic development.
EBS Global's construction systems are based on off-site manufacturing, cold-formed steel framing and modular building. With a central production facility in Barrie, Ontario and mobile modular manufacturing platforms, the company can supply housing for both urban centres and remote communities. Its capabilities include load-bearing and non-load-bearing steel wall panels; cold-formed steel (CFS) roof systems, joists and trusses; digital design from CAD to component; automated roll-forming from steel coil to coded part; and rapid on-site assembly that cuts build time from weeks to days.
This approach suits remote regions where logistics are difficult.
- Volume: high-volume production lowers unit costs while keeping quality up and material waste down.
- Standardized, flexible design: digitally modelled components can be deployed quickly and adapted to local needs.
- Partnerships: EBS has worked with Canadian municipalities and public agencies, and is ready to partner with Nunavut's Local Housing Organizations and Inuit-led institutions.
- Less weather delay: manufacturing off site avoids delays from on-site scheduling and harsh weather.
- Procurement and delivery: early engagement, bulk material sourcing and automation lower costs and protect the supply chain in a volatile global market.
As Nunavut 3000 moves into implementation, EBS Global is ready to help across all 25 communities in Nunavut, with mobile factories set up on demand and construction strategies that respect local culture.
