What off-site construction is and what it changes

Off-site construction, also called off-site manufacturing or prefabrication, means assembling building components in a factory and then transporting them to the site. Compared with building everything on site, it is more efficient, easier to control for quality, and less wasteful.

There are two main methods. Modular construction prefabricates whole sections of a building. Panelized construction makes wall or roof panels off site. Both are used for residential, industrial and commercial buildings.

Moving work into a factory means projects finish sooner, with lower on-site labour costs and less construction waste. Quality is easier to control, and weather causes fewer delays.

EBS Global designs and manufactures prefabricated metal panels for a range of applications. The panels are built for durability, energy performance and simple installation.

In a factory, work is less exposed to weather and other outside factors that affect quality, so there is less risk. Safety improves too, with fewer hazards on site and more control over working conditions.

Demand for industrial metal and steel buildings continues to grow, and off-site construction is an efficient way to meet it.
